A court has certified me as an expert in Axon and Taser ECW training, application, and exposure risk. I have been instructing on these devices since 2014. That lets me speak to the deployment decision, to what the device data records, and to the risk the exposure carried.
How I Review a Case
ECW cases come with data that most force cases do not have. I pull the device download. It records every trigger pull, how long each cycle ran, and the gap between them. I line that against the video and the officer's report. Probe and cartridge evidence, medical records, and the manufacturer's training bulletins go into the same timeline. For chemical agents, impact munitions, and distraction devices, I look at deployment distance, target area, and whether the officer followed both the manufacturer's guidance and the agency's policy.
What an Engagement Produces
A device download and a focused review will often answer the central question fast. That is worth knowing before anyone commits to a full report. When a complete opinion is warranted, I cover the technical application, the number and duration of cycles, exposure risk, and how the deployment measured against training and policy. I review opposing expert work, give deposition testimony, and testify at trial.
